Chelsea icon John Obi Mikel has praised Malo Gusto and Estêvão Willian following the Blues’ 2-1 Club World Cup quarter-final win over Palmeiras on Saturday morning.
Mikel commended Gusto for his all-round performance and described Willian as a talented youngster with great potential.
Chelsea secured the win thanks to goals from Cole Palmer and an own goal by Agustín Giay.
Speaking to DAZN, Mikel said:
“Estêvão Willian is a fantastic player with a great left foot. He whips in early crosses, can take on defenders, and looked really sharp and eager to impress — and he did exactly that today.
“As for Gusto, he was everywhere — drifting into midfield and contributing across the pitch. Sometimes his performances raise questions, but today he was absolutely brilliant.”
Chelsea will face Fluminense in the semi-final on Tuesday.
