Former President Donald Trump has joined TikTok, quickly gaining significant traction within hours of his debut on the popular social media platform.
His inaugural video, posted from the Ultimate Fighting Championship 302 event in New Jersey, garnered over 32 million views and 1.8 million followers by Sunday evening.
The video, shared on his verified account #realDonaldTrump, captures Trump waving to the crowd at the event. UFC President Dana White announced Trump’s arrival on TikTok, to which the former president responded, “It’s my honor.”
Within just four hours, the clip had received over 2.7 million views and 500,000 likes.
Trump’s decision to join TikTok comes after the share price of Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG), which operates Truth Social, fell following his felony conviction.
Interestingly, Trump had previously sought to ban TikTok in the US during his tenure as president.
