Donald Trump has shared a message of support following the announcement that President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with cancer.
Biden’s personal office revealed that the 82-year-old has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. In response, Trump, 78, posted a statement on Truth Social extending well wishes to Biden and his family.
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” Trump wrote. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
The announcement, released on Sunday, May 18, through Biden’s personal office and reported by Wall Street Journal reporter Ken Thomas, confirmed that the president sought medical attention last week due to increasing urinary symptoms.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” the statement explained.
“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement continued. “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
Other political figures, including Vice President Kamala Harris, have also expressed their support in the wake of the announcement.
