Anthony Joshua has said that a long-awaited showdown with Tyson Fury is “more possible now than ever,” claiming the former WBC heavyweight champion has run out of alternatives.
Speaking to Marca, the two-time heavyweight titleholder insisted Fury must now face him after spending years focused on other rivals.
“I think it’s very possible. I think it’s more possible now than ever. He has no options anymore. He has to fight me,” Joshua told the Spanish outlet.
Joshua’s confident remarks follow comments from Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, who recently revealed that the Morecambe-born fighter is still eyeing a third clash with Oleksandr Usyk rather than the all-British fight fans have been waiting for.
“The fight he really wants is another go with Mr Usyk; he really wants that,” Warren told Sky Sports in October.
Fury, who announced his fifth retirement in January, has lost both of his professional fights against Usyk in 2024, each on points.
Despite years of anticipation and failed negotiations, the two British heavyweights have never shared the ring. Joshua, however, remains determined to reclaim his crown for a third time — a feat achieved only by Muhammad Ali — and believes beating Fury is the path back to the top.
With both fighters nearing the twilight of their careers, Joshua appears more confident than ever that the long-delayed clash will finally happen, despite Fury’s ongoing hesitation to sign the fight that could define a generation of British boxing.
