John Dumelo elected as Member of Parliament in Ghana

Famous Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.

Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He was declared the winner of the parliamentary election held during Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Dumelo secured 40,561 votes, while Lydia Alhassan garnered 27,377.

The actor had previously contested for the same seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.

Starting his acting career in 1991 while still in school, Dumelo has appeared in numerous Gollywood and Nollywood films.
