Following an attempt on the life of former United States President Donald Trump at a political rally on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Pennsylvania, authorities have identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Crooks.

“Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, is the individual involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania,” reported USA Today, quoting the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a statement on Sunday.

The FBI further stated, “This is an active and ongoing investigation, and we encourage anyone with information, including photos or videos, to come forward.”

During his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump, the Republican candidate for the upcoming November 5, 2024, presidential election, was fired upon, prompting Secret Service agents to swiftly evacuate him from the stage into an awaiting SUV.

The gunman and a bystander were killed during the incident, while two spectators sustained critical injuries.

According to AFP, the Secret Service confirmed that the shooter “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally” before being apprehended.
