Lionel Messi is set to return to Inter Miami this Saturday after over two months out with an ankle injury, according to coach Gerardo Martino.
Messi, who injured his right ankle during the Copa America final on July 14, has missed eight MLS games and recent World Cup qualifiers. Martino confirmed Messi trained on Thursday and is included in the plans for the upcoming match against the Philadelphia Union.
Inter Miami, leading the Eastern Conference and overall standings, has already secured a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs. Messi’s return is expected to boost the team’s confidence and performance.
Winger Robert Taylor noted that Messi’s presence in training has been inspiring and believes his return will have a positive impact on the team.
