Ashe finished fourth in Heat 4 behind Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, Japan’s Abdul Hakim Sani Brown, and Thailand’s Thurpool Bonboon. Despite this, Ashe advanced to the semifinals by securing the last non-automatic qualifying spot.
