Spyro accuses music executive Ubi Franklin of scamming him out of $5,000 by falsely using Davido’s name.
During an interview on the Echoroom podcast, the singer explained how Franklin deceived him into performing at a birthday party in Ghana under the pretense that Davido had requested it.
Spyro expressed his frustration, saying, “It was painful to be taken advantage of.” Despite Pastor Bolaji’s intervention, the issue remains unresolved.
Recounting the incident, Spyro shared, “Ubi called and said he was in Ghana for Iyanya’s birthday. When we arrived, he mentioned performances at the party, but I declined. Later, he claimed Davido requested I perform and promised $5k. I insisted on contacting my management but was misled into performing. Afterward, Ubi ignored my payment requests and told me not to involve Davido.”
Spyro criticised Franklin for exploiting artists, warning others to avoid falling victim: “It’s painful to see him go around scamming people. This is a warning to other artists.”
