Nigeria’s Super Eagles have retained their 44th position in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, as published on the world football governing body’s website on Thursday.
In November, the Eagles dropped eight places to 44th, marking a tough year for the team. The 2024 rankings highlight Nigeria’s struggles, with the Super Eagles falling eight spots due to underwhelming performances during the final AFCON 2025 qualifiers. The team failed to secure wins against the Benin Republic and Rwanda, contributing to their decline.
Globally, Argentina continues to lead the FIFA rankings, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil rounding out the top five.
This year’s rankings are based on a total of 1,181 international matches played in 2024, with only a few fixtures since November causing minor adjustments in team standings.
