Timeline of Wizkid, Davido’s decade-long beef.

by Admin

Award-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has once again taken a swipe at his colleague and Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, calling him “talentless.”

Wizkid’s remarks came after a cryptic announcement about Davido’s upcoming single with YG Marley. In what appeared to be a subtle jab, Wizkid took to his X page to allegedly downplay the single, writing, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” and adding, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small! 🦅.”

Angered by the apparent shade, a fan accused Wizkid of chasing clout with his post, tweeting, “So if you no beef @davido your song won’t sell??” from the account @CULTURALVOICE.

In response, Wizkid said he doesn’t engage with “wack niggas,” further adding, “We all know he’s wack! No talent! 🦅.”

As of now, Davido has yet to respond to Wizkid’s comments. The feud between the two Afrobeats stars dates back to 2014, with both artists taking shots at each other over the years.

In May 2024, Wizkid dissed both Davido and record producer Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, describing the Mavin Records boss as an “influencer” and mocking a video of Davido on his knees, pleading and crying after a fan asked Wizkid to release new music. Davido retaliated by calling Wizkid’s career “dead.”

In January 2024, after Davido was featured on Kizz Daniel’s song ‘Twe Twe,’ he tweeted, “We no dey do it will grow on you here,” which fans interpreted as a dig at Wizkid.

Despite moments of apparent reconciliation, like when both artists partied together at the ‘Even In The Day’ event in December 2023, tensions have continued. Davido attributed much of their feud to fan bases fueling the rivalry during an interview on Drinking Champs in June 2023.

In a move that showed solidarity, Wizkid delayed the release of his fifth album *More Love, Less Ego* in November 2022 to mourn the loss of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, which fans saw as an end to the beef. In January 2023, Wizkid even announced a joint tour with Davido, asking fans to “save your coins.”

However, incidents like Wizkid snubbing Davido’s *A Better Time* album in 2020 and fans speculating on cryptic posts from both sides continue to keep the feud alive.

The rivalry began as early as 2014 when Wizkid, after his New York show, posted a tweet that many saw as a diss towards Davido. Though Wizkid denied it, Davido insisted that the tweet was aimed at him.

Despite occasional signs of reconciliation, the long-standing rivalry between Wizkid and Davido remains one of Afrobeats’ most talked-about feuds.
