Two employees, Ebenezer Olusesi, aged 31, and Ibrahim Adeniyi, aged 41, both working at FoodCo’s Ring Road branch, found themselves in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of allegedly stealing two loaves of bread valued at N2,600 from their employer.
According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Olusesi, who works as a baker, and Adeniyi, employed as a security guard, both entered pleas of not guilty to the theft charges.
The Prosecution Counsel, Cpl. David Adepoju, informed the court that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit the theft. Adepoju further stated that on April 28, the defendants purportedly stole the bread, valued at N2,600, which belonged to FoodCo Company located at Ring Road, Ibadan, represented by Friday Achibong.
The alleged offence was said to contravene sections 390 (a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
In response to the charges, the Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum. Ogunkanmi specified that one of the sureties must be a relative, while the second sureties must provide evidence of tax payment for the past two years.
The matter was adjourned until August 15 for further hearing.
