Barcelona defender Jules Koundé is expected to miss the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The French international was forced off during Wednesday’s 3-3 draw in the first leg. The return match is scheduled for Tuesday at the San Siro.
“Tests carried out this morning have shown that first-team player Jules Koundé has a hamstring injury in his left thigh,” the club confirmed in a statement on Thursday.
Although no timeline for recovery was given, Koundé is now a serious doubt for the upcoming El Clásico against Real Madrid on May 11 and will not be available for this weekend’s La Liga fixture against Real Valladolid.
Eric García replaced Koundé at right-back during the second half of the Inter clash at the Olympic Stadium.
The 26-year-old has featured in 53 matches for Barcelona across all competitions this season as the club pushes for a potential quadruple.
