Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has claimed that envy is behind the criticism he receives from some of his colleagues in the music industry.
According to him, the claim that he isn’t lyrically talented comes from jealousy, as he believes his achievements speak for themselves.
The ‘Pity This Boy’ crooner stated that despite criticisms, he has enjoyed more international recognition than any other Nigerian rapper and suggested that some of his peers are envious because he excels both as a rapper and a singer.
Speaking on the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast, Odumodublvck said:
“In Nigeria, they say that my rap is not good, but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists. I think it’s envy because I sing my hooks, my songs are hits, and I get more bookings than them.”
He continued,
“The envy is deep, especially when they think they are better. But we pay no mind to that. We just keep pushing for those that believe. It’s unfortunate for the people on the other side because this thing isn’t stopping anytime soon.”
Odumodublvck also threw a challenge to his critics, urging them to prove their superiority by selling more records and booking more shows than him.
