World Cup Qualifiers: South Africa to host Super Eagles on September 9

by Admin

South Africa’s Bafana Bafana will host three-time African champions Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on September 9, 2025.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Ademola Olajire, Head of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation, the much-anticipated clash will kick off at 4 p.m. GMT (5 p.m. Nigeria time and 6 p.m. in South Africa).

The Toyota Stadium—formerly known as Vodacom Park and later Free State Stadium—was opened in 1995 and holds up to 46,000 fans. It’s located in Bloemfontein, South Africa’s judicial capital.

This crucial Matchday 8 fixture could play a decisive role in determining who secures the sole qualifying spot from Africa’s Group C for the 2026 World Cup.

The encounter comes just three days after the Super Eagles are scheduled to host Rwanda’s Amavubi on September 6.
