Nigerian music star Simi has offered valuable advice to parents on raising their daughters.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the singer urged parents to empower their daughters to take charge of their financial futures and avoid dependency.
Criticising the idea of parents praying for wealthy suitors for their daughters, Simi encouraged them to cultivate independence in the girl child.
“Parents, raise your daughters to be self-sufficient. They shouldn’t grow up thinking their only option is to rely on someone else for support.
“There is strength in being independent. A woman’s economic power comes from being able to provide for herself and confidently recognising that she is a complete individual. Let them know that you stand strong,” she stated.
