N15m bribe claim: Bobrisky granted bail after denying involvement in voicenote

by Admin

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted bail to Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, after his recent arrest. The controversial cross-dresser was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport late Thursday night while attempting to travel to London.

Following the arrest, Bobrisky took to social media, claiming he sustained injuries during the incident and stated, “Nigerians, help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.” He was subsequently flown to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was questioned about alleged bribery claims.

A voice note shared by social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, allegedly revealed Bobrisky claiming he paid N15 million to EFCC officers to dismiss money laundering charges. On Friday night, Bobrisky secured bail and was released. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the release on Saturday, though further details were not provided.

According to a source familiar with the case, Bobrisky denied any bribery in his statement, challenging the individual who posted the voice note to substantiate it. The source added, “He denied giving any money as a bribe to drop the charges, stating that no EFCC official demanded or received money from him.”
