The House of Representatives has passed a bill for increased salaries, allowances, and benefits for judicial officers. Under the bill, the Chief Justice of Nigeria is set to earn a monthly salary of N5.39 million.
President Bola Tinubu submitted the executive bill on Tuesday, and it was passed on Wednesday. Justices of the Supreme Court will earn a total monthly package of N4.21 million, while the President of the Court of Appeal will earn N4.48 million.
Other judicial officers will also see increases in their total monthly packages. These packages include basic salaries and various allowances such as car maintenance, personal assistance, and medicals.
Additionally, the House approved other job-related allowances like leave allowances, estacode, duty tour allowances, and severance gratuity.
