Kenya deports five Nigerians for suspected drug trafficking and online scams.

by Admin

Five Nigerian nationals have been deported from Kenya and declared persona non grata due to their alleged involvement in various criminal activities, notably drug trafficking within the country.

The individuals, namely Olayiwola Saheed Tunde, Nwosu Prince Chukwuebuka, Ajibade Adewale, Nwanonaku Alexander Odirachukwumma, and Olayiwola Babatunde Akintomwawere, were expelled by the Directorate of Immigration Services on March 18, 2024. A source at Nyayo House informed Citizen Digital that some of these foreigners had returned to the country surreptitiously even after being deported in 2023.

“They had become a nuisance to the public and to us as law enforcement,” the source stated. According to the Immigration Department, Tunde was a known drug trafficker who was illegally present in the country. Chukwuebuka was apprehended with counterfeit bills totaling $1 million, along with 11 fake Nigerian passports and 3 fake Kenyan passports.

Adewale and Odirachukwumma, identified as known drug dealers, were also found to be illegally present in the country. Additionally, Akintomwa, besides being involved in drug trafficking, was known for engaging in online scams.

The Immigration Department further revealed that Nigerian nationals previously deported from Kenya often relocate to neighboring Tanzania, where they continue to coordinate criminal activities in Kenya in collaboration with their counterparts in the country.
