Veteran record producer and music executive, Don Jazzy, has highlighted the concerning lack of receptiveness towards female musicians among Nigerians. Expressing his dismay, the Mavin Records boss emphasized that it’s disheartening to observe the disparity in consumption of music from female artists compared to their male counterparts, despite their evident dedication and hard work.

The issue was brought to light by a netizen identified as @Lahon199x, who pointed out the stark contrast between the opportunities available to Nigerian female artists domestically versus on the global stage. They lamented the prevailing trend where female musicians struggle to attain A-list status within Nigeria’s music industry, contrasting this with the more equitable landscape observed in other countries.

Reiterating the sentiment, Don Jazzy shared the sentiment, acknowledging the immense effort exerted by female artists. He echoed the sentiment that despite their undeniable talent and relentless work ethic, Nigerian female musicians face significant barriers to recognition and success within their own country’s music scene.
