The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has removed the second-leg fixture of the Group D 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya’s Mediterranean Knights from its schedule.
Originally set to occur in Libya at 8 PM, this match followed the first leg, which took place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where the Super Eagles secured a narrow victory with a lone goal in the final minute.
Controversy erupted regarding the return leg after Super Eagles players and officials shared their harrowing experience of being stranded at the Libya airport for over 14 hours before returning home.
In response, CAF has launched an investigation into the incident after the Libya Football Federation accused Nigeria of sabotage and threatened legal action. Additionally, CAF updated its schedule for matches set to be played on Tuesday but did not include the Libya versus Nigeria game on its X handle.
