Drivers on strike: Metros and trams will not run for two days in Helsinki

According to HKL, Trams and the metro will not run on Thursday 16.9. and on Friday 17.9. due to the protests of the drivers of the City of Helsinki.

Employees have demanded a new report on the consequences of HKL’s incorporation, but no such permit is promised. The Helsinki City Government approved the incorporation project on Monday, and the matter will be considered by the City Council on 22 September, Helsinki Sanomat reported. Read more

Other public transport serves normally, but buses, especially along the metro line, may become congested.

Drivers will return to work on Saturday 18.9. shifts starting at 4 a.m., and will be operated on Saturday according to normal schedules.
