Finidi:NFF Launches Disciplinary Action Against Osimhen

by Admin

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is set to take action against Super Eagles’ first-choice striker, Victor Osimhen, for improper conduct following his verbal attack on former coach Finidi George. Finidi resigned on Friday after the NFF announced plans to appoint an expatriate coach. Osimhen criticized Finidi over reports questioning his commitment to the team, particularly regarding his absence during the team’s recent World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, which ended in a draw and a loss respectively, leaving Nigeria fifth in their group.

“NFF President Ibrahim Muse Guseu has already spoken with Osimhen regarding his outburst, and Finidi also reached out to him. The report he reacted to is fake and misleading, but unfortunately, he did not verify it before responding,” a NFF board member told Owngoal Nigeria.com.

“Osimhen is a role model, and to support the incoming coach in asserting authority, we must set an example with him. His comments crossed a line, and despite Finidi’s attempt to explain, he has not retracted his statements. We cannot condone this behavior, and after the break, we will address the issue. He will not be part of the team until he apologizes for his actions,” he concluded.
