Finland hope of reaching the last 16 hangs in the balance after losing to Russia

by Admin

The Finnish National Team hope of reaching the last 16 in their first attempt in a major finals hangs in the balance after losing to Russia in Saint Petersburg. Russia’s Euro 2020 campaign is back on track as they beat Finland 1-0 thanks to a superb strike from Aleksei Miranchuk

Finland defeated Denmark with a lone goal in their opening game which was eclipsed by Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen collapsing on the pitch which made the match officials to postpone the game.

Before the game,  Markku Kanerva, Finland coach said “We have to improve our attacking. We need to create more chances and score more goals. This is going to be a tough game for sure. Russia pretty much have to win this game; they will be hurt and they will be aggressive. Everything in the group is open. We’re looking at everything we can do to get the win or at least get a point.”

Finland have an uphill task when they confront Belgium on Monday June 21 to wrap up Group B matches
