Finland opens new Embassy in Dakar, the first in French West Africa

The government of Finland on 10th December 2021 officially opened a new Embassy in Dakar, Senegal, the second Finnish Embassy in West Africa.

August this year, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland announced that a new Embassy will be opened in the French West Africa country to further deepen its relations with African countries and to expand and strengthen the network of Finnish missions abroad.

The Embassy will start its operations on a small scale with temporary office premises.

“The Embassy in Dakar is at the moment serving only Finnish citizens and those having permanent residence in Finland, that are in urgent need of help.”

Meanwhile,, the Embassy of Finland in Abuja, Nigeria will be serving normal consular services to those from West Africa including Finnish citizens in Senegal.
