With Victor Osimhen yet to decide on his next destination, Turkish champions Galatasaray appear to be making plans for life without the Nigerian striker, as they have reportedly identified Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku as a key summer target.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli at the start of last season, after being sidelined by his parent club and seeing potential deadline-day moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia collapse.
The 26-year-old made a massive impact in Turkey, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, helping Gala clinch both the Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup. He also finished as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals.
Though his loan deal officially ends later this month, Galatasaray remain hopeful of securing him on a permanent basis.
However, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik, the club is also preparing for the possibility of his departure, and Nkunku has emerged as a serious alternative.
The French forward has struggled for regular minutes at Chelsea since arriving in the summer of 2023, starting just nine Premier League matches in the 2024/25 season. Despite this, he played a vital role in Chelsea’s Conference League triumph, scoring five goals and adding three assists in nine appearances.
In total, Nkunku has recorded six goals in 38 Premier League games and 17 goals and five assists in 56 matches across all competitions for the Blues, who signed him from RB Leipzig for £50.6m.
Although his Chelsea contract runs until 2029, the club is reportedly open to letting him leave if the right offer comes in. Galatasaray are expected to submit an official bid soon, having earmarked the 27-year-old as a perfect fit for their high-intensity attacking style.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s future remains up in the air. While Chelsea and Manchester United still hold interest, the Blues are close to sealing a £30m deal for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.
Osimhen is now believed to be in advanced talks with a top Saudi Pro League club, who could outbid Manchester United and secure his services with a more lucrative package.
