Popular Nigerian singer Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has clarified that he wasn’t pressured to study law despite his father, Femi Falana’s, success in the field.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Falz shared that his decision to study law was inspired by the people his father had helped throughout his career. “I wouldn’t say it was pressure, but from a young age, whenever I mentioned my name, people would immediately ask, ‘Which Falana? Is it Femi Falana? Oh wow,’” Falz explained.
He recalled that many people had stories about how his father fought for them and came to their aid. “So, I wasn’t pressured, but I aspired to emulate what my father was doing.”
Falz went on to reveal that his father’s work had a lasting impact on him, which led him to study law. However, he only practiced for a brief period before his music career took off. “I practiced law for almost two years. By 2014, as things began to pick up for me in music, I started moving away from law.”
