‘I’m not an Afrobeats artiste’ – Flavour explains

by Admin

Renowned Nigerian singer Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour, has clarified his position on the Afrobeats genre. In a recent episode of the ‘Afrobeats Podcast’ hosted by Shopsydoo, Flavour explained that he does not concern himself with the global rise of Nigeria’s Afrobeats genre because he does not consider himself an Afrobeats artist.

He emphasised that while he believes he deserves recognition for his contributions to African music, such acknowledgment is lacking due to the media’s focus on promoting only Afrobeats as Africa’s defining genre.
