Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has set a new milestone, becoming the Nigerian with the most Premier League appearances.
The Fulham midfielder achieved the feat on Saturday, October 18, after playing the full 90 minutes in a 1–0 loss to his former club Arsenal at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi had earlier equalled Shola Ameobi’s record of 298 matches against Bournemouth this month and has now moved clear as Nigeria’s most-capped Premier League player.
His record-breaking appearance comes nearly a decade after making his Premier League debut for Arsenal against Swansea City on October 27, 2015 — a fitting full-circle moment against his former side.
Behind Iwobi and Ameobi on the all-time list are Nwankwo Kanu with 273 appearances, Yakubu Aiyegbeni with 252, and John Obi Mikel, who made 249 league outings while winning multiple titles with Chelsea.
