Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has earned a place in the Serie A Team of the Week, alongside four of his Atalanta teammates.
After securing the man of the match award in Atalanta’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, Lookman continued his stellar run with an assist in their 5-1 victory over Genoa, earning him a spot in WhoScored’s Serie A Team of the Week.
In goal, David De Gea, formerly of Manchester United, claimed the top spot after his outstanding performance in Fiorentina’s 2-1 win against AC Milan. The 33-year-old made seven crucial saves at Stadio Artemio Franchi, stopping Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham from the penalty spot to secure the win for Raffaele Palladino’s side.
Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni shone in defence with an assist and a 95% pass accuracy in Inter’s 3-2 triumph over Torino. He was joined by Atalanta defenders Marten de Roon and Saed Kolasinac.
In midfield, Christian Pulisic featured after scoring for Milan in their loss to Fiorentina, while Udinese’s Jordan Zemura made the list with a stunning free kick against Lecce. Atalanta’s Ederson and Ademola Lookman completed the midfield lineup.
Up front, Marcus Thuram’s hat-trick in Torino’s defeat saw him lead the attack, with Napoli’s Romelu Lukaku and Atalanta’s Mario Retegui also named.
With Victor Osimhen absent, Lookman is set to lead the line for the Super Eagles in their upcoming international clash against Libya later this month.
