Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has confirmed his return to action right after the international break.
The 25-year-old sustained an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, but in a recent video, he revealed that he plans to be back for the club’s next league match against Antalyaspor on October 19.
This news is a relief for Galatasaray fans, who initially feared Osimhen would be out until November following a muscle strain, which was originally downplayed as a knock by the player.
Osimhen’s injury, which came after he scored twice in the game, forced him off at halftime, and the club quickly announced that he had started treatment. The injury also kept him out of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.
Initially, Osimhen was expected to miss six weeks, but in a video circulating online, he confidently stated, “After the international break,” when asked about his return by Turkish journalist Caner Isbegendiren.
The news of his early return is a huge boost for Galatasaray. Turkish football analyst Emre Sarıgül emphasized the significance of his recovery, saying, “Osimhen’s return will be a massive lift for Galatasaray. His goal-scoring ability and physical presence will make a huge difference in the Süper Lig.”
Since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, Osimhen has made an impact, contributing two goals and four assists in four matches. His presence is crucial as Galatasaray aims to extend their lead in the Turkish Super Lig and defend their title.
In addition, Osimhen recently won the Turkish Super Lig Goal of the Week award, securing 77.96% of the votes for his stunning goal against Kasimpasa. Despite his brief absence, he remains a fan favourite, with thousands of supporters welcoming him at Istanbul Airport when he arrived to complete his loan move.
With Osimhen returning earlier than expected, Galatasaray fans are hopeful the Nigerian striker will continue his fine form and help lead the team to further victories in the weeks ahead.
