Ange Postecoglou has been dismissed as Nottingham Forest manager after just eight games in charge, with the announcement coming minutes after the team’s 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea.
In a statement shared on X, the club said: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Owner Evangelos Marinakis was seen leaving the City Ground before the final whistle, and news of Postecoglou’s departure followed shortly after full-time.
The Australian coach was appointed on September 9 after leading Tottenham to a Europa League title earlier this year. However, a poor run of form — six losses and no wins in eight matches — brought his brief tenure to an end, marking Forest’s third managerial change this season.
Before the match, Postecoglou had expressed confidence in his process, saying: “If I’m given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy.”
Forest currently sit near the bottom of the Premier League table, and reports suggest former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche is among the frontrunners to replace him.
