Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been singled out as the main force behind Galatasaray’s title challenge, with Turkish football commentator Emre Bol criticising the rest of the team for their lack of effort.
Speaking on the Ekol Sports YouTube channel, Bol stated that Osimhen has been carrying Galatasaray almost single-handedly this season.
Since joining on loan in the summer, the Super Eagles star has delivered outstanding performances, scoring 22 goals and providing six assists in 28 appearances—numbers that have kept Galatasaray at the top of the Turkish League.
“For weeks, Victor Osimhen has been carrying Galatasaray,” Bol said.
“The others are not making an impact. They don’t even fight half as much as Osimhen, who is only on loan.”
Bol criticised the team’s lack of energy, saying, “There is no running, no fighting, no aggression.” He believes Osimhen has set a standard his teammates have failed to match, reflecting the growing frustration among fans as Galatasaray struggles despite the striker’s efforts.
Coach Okan Buruk now faces mounting pressure to get his players to match Osimhen’s intensity.
Since arriving in Turkey after failed transfer moves last summer, Osimhen has become the heart of Galatasaray’s attack. His goals have repeatedly saved the team, including a crucial brace in their recent 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa.
Bol argues that Galatasaray has become overly reliant on Osimhen’s individual brilliance, and if other players don’t step up, their title hopes could be at risk, especially with Fenerbahce only four points behind.
