Osimhen nets 17th goal of 2025, moves level with Lewandowski and Gyökeres in third place

Victor Osimhen has continued his red-hot form in 2025, scoring his 17th goal of the calendar year to move level with Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski and Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres in joint-third among Europe’s top scorers.

The Nigerian striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, struck again on Friday in a crucial Turkish Super Lig clash against Samsunspor, helping his side protect their narrow lead at the top of the table following a derby loss to Besiktas.

With this latest goal, Osimhen moves ahead of Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane (14 goals) and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy (13), trailing only PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé (24) and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé (19) in the 2025 scoring race.

Since opening his 2025 account with a goal in Galatasaray’s 2-1 win over Göztepe on January 4, the 25-year-old has been relentless in front of goal. He scored against Hatayspor, Dynamo Kyiv, Konyaspor, and Ajax before January ended.

In February, he netted a brace against Rizespor and added another in a Europa League 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar. March was even more prolific: he bagged a double in a 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa, scored in a 2-1 win over Alanyaspor, and fired a hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 4-0 rout of Antalyaspor.

Osimhen hasn’t let up in April either. He scored twice in a high-stakes 2-1 win over title rivals Fenerbahce before adding another against Samsunspor.

His tally now stands at an impressive 29 goals and five assists across all competitions this season. In the Turkish Super Lig alone, he has recorded 21 goals and four assists, along with six goals and one assist in the Europa League and two goals in the Turkish Cup.

Osimhen’s impact has been pivotal to Galatasaray’s title push, especially in the wake of their first league defeat of the season. His form has not gone unnoticed, with top European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation closely as his loan spell nears its end.
