Osimhen’s acrobatic wins Super Lig Goal of The Season

by Admin

Victor Osimhen’s stunning overhead kick in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor in October 2024 has been voted the Goal of the Season in the Turkish Super Lig, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Nigerian striker secured an overwhelming 65.8% of fan votes on X, beating out his Galatasaray teammate Kaan Ayhan, whose free-kick garnered 34.2%.

The poll, conducted on the Super Lig’s official X account on Monday and revealed on Tuesday, confirmed Osimhen as the winner. “The most beautiful goal of the 2024–2025 Season in the Trendyol Super League was determined by your votes. Victor Osimhen!” the league announced.

His acrobatic strike was the final goal in the match on October 19, 2024. He had come on as a substitute in the 78th minute for Yunus Akgun and found the net just 13 minutes later. The goal was his third of the season after making a late loan switch from Napoli to Galatasaray, having been frozen out of the Italian side’s squad.

Osimhen finished the campaign in red-hot form, scoring 37 goals across all competitions—including 26 in the Super Lig.

As the summer transfer window heats up, Osimhen’s future remains a major talking point. The 26-year-old has reportedly turned down a big-money move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, despite a fresh, even more lucrative offer on the table. His preference is said to be a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United showing strong interest.

With his loan spell in Turkey now over, Napoli are expected to ramp up negotiations for a permanent move away from the club.
