The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, on Thursday, announced the resolution of the long-standing issue regarding the mobilisation of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
A statement from the ministry confirmed that only full-time HND graduates are eligible for mobilisation, following discussions with the NYSC Director-General.
“This development is a significant breakthrough for full-time HND graduates who were previously excluded from the NYSC program. It reflects the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the education system. However, part-time HND graduates remain ineligible for mobilisation,” the statement read.
To ensure a smooth process, the National Board for Technical Education has been directed to expedite data collation for eligible HND graduates. A circular has also been sent to all Polytechnic Rectors, instructing them to upload the necessary graduate data onto the newly created HND admission portal.
Alausa reiterated that NYSC mobilisation is strictly for full-time HND graduates, emphasising that part-time HND graduates will not be eligible.
He further explained that the new portal will serve as the official database for NYSC mobilisation, addressing past challenges related to admission records.
The minister encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to proceed with their mobilisation without delay and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates through the NYSC scheme.
