Tiwa Savage: Nigerians constantly compare me to other female artists.

by Admin

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has claimed that she is constantly being pitted against other female artists by overzealous fans.

She said that fans often pit her against every rising female artist, suggesting that these newcomers are coming to take her “throne.”

The ‘Water & Garri’ singer expressed her perspective on this issue, saying that she goes out of her way to befriend new female artists because she believes that music should not be viewed as a competition.

Savage shared her thoughts in a recent interview with BET.

She said, “Fans always try to pit me against other female artists. Any new female artist that comes up, they would be like, ‘Yo, she is coming to take her throne.’

“And I would go out of my way to make friends with them [new female artists] because it is not a competition. The real competition are the male artists. I was happy that Tyla, a female artist, won the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys over the male nominees.”
