Media personality Toke Makinwa has advised singles not to lower their standards when choosing a partner due to societal pressure.
Speaking on the latest episode of her Toke Moments podcast, she stated that there is nothing wrong with a woman relying on a man to pay her bills. She emphasised that men who are not comfortable with this should simply leave such women for those who are.
“You don’t need to lower your standards. There are over a billion people in this world. Go find someone who meets your expectations. Stop letting society dictate for you,” she said.
Makinwa added, “If you think, ‘Oh, this girl is just after money, all she wants is a man to pay her bills,’ then if you can’t do it, leave. There’s another guy out there who is willing.”
She also urged people to stop arguing online over differing opinions, stating, “We make things harder than they need to be. If someone isn’t what you’re looking for, don’t waste time criticising them—it’s more a reflection of you than them.”
