American hip-hop legend Kanye West has released a controversial list of what he considers the 12 most iconic rappers in history.
In the list, which he referred to as “12 rap kings,” West included himself, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, 2Pac, 50 Cent, Eminem, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Nas, and Rakim as the greatest rappers of all time.
Sharing the list on his X handle, he wrote:
“There are 12 rap kings”
- Lil Wayne
- Kanye West
- Jay-Z
- Drake
- Biggie Smalls
- 2Pac
- 50 Cent
- Eminem
- LL Cool J
- Run DMC
- Nas
- Rakim
The list sparked controversy, with many criticising West for leaving out Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and other influential figures in hip-hop.
West recently admitted that he doesn’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music, despite acknowledging that Lamar is “very good.”
Last year, he also criticised J. Cole for apologising to Kendrick Lamar over a diss track, arguing that Cole made a mistake by backing down.
