Napoli have reportedly asked Liverpool for two players plus cash in exchange for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, following the Premier League club’s interest in the Nigerian forward.
According to Valter De Maggio via Sportskeeda, Liverpool offered Napoli the duo of Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez in a bid to sign Osimhen. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to have demanded an additional €20 million on top of the player swap.
Chiesa is currently valued at €14 million and Nunez at €45 million, bringing the total package to €79 million with the added cash—slightly above Osimhen’s current €70 million market value according to Transfermarkt.
The 26-year-old striker has built a reputation as one of the top centre-forwards in world football over the last few seasons. He reportedly wanted a move away from Napoli last summer but instead joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan, where he delivered an outstanding campaign—scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 matches.
Among his standout moments was a stunning overhead kick against Antalyaspor, which won Super Lig’s Goal of the Season with 65.8% of fan votes. Following his successful spell, Galatasaray are keen to keep him permanently.
Meanwhile, several top Premier League sides have also expressed interest. Osimhen was previously linked with Chelsea and a move to Saudi Arabia, both of which he turned down. Reports suggest Al-Hilal are preparing a fresh offer worth €50 million per year after he rejected an earlier €30 million package.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently hinted that the striker is waiting for a call from Old Trafford, though United are unlikely to act unless Osimhen lowers his wage expectations.
Liverpool, however, face stiff competition across Europe, with Juventus also stepping up their pursuit under new sporting director Damien Comolli. The Reds are also keeping an eye on other forwards like Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, both of whom would require significant investment.
