Nigerian singer Ololade Ahmed, known as Asake, has revealed that his colleague Wizkid was the one who reached out to him to be featured on his song ‘MMS’.
Asake explained that although he had another artist in mind for the track, producer P. Prime played it for Wizkid, who then expressed his desire to be featured.
In a recent Instagram interaction with fans, Asake said, “I didn’t initially plan to have Wizkid on that song. I had someone else in mind, but P. Prime played the song for Wizkid, and Wiz said, ‘I f*ck with this song, I want to jump on it.’”
‘MMS,’ released on Friday from Asake’s third studio album ‘Lungu Boy,’ broke the record for the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria with 870,000 streams, surpassing the previous record held by Wizkid’s ‘IDK’ featuring Zlatan Ibile, which had 626,000 streams.
Additionally, Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ set a new record for the biggest first-day streams for an African album on Spotify, achieving 9.42 million streams on the Global Spotify Chart.
