‘I haven’t cut ties with Mr Ibu’s family,’ says Jasmine.

Jasmine Okekeagwu, the alleged adopted daughter of the late actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has clarified that despite the drama that occurred between her and the family during the actor’s final days and after his passing, she has not completely cut ties with them.

In an interview with *Saturday Beats*, she explained, “I wouldn’t say I’ve cut ties with them entirely. I’m just focusing on myself and trying to avoid a lot of trouble.”

Jasmine also mentioned that she viewed her interactions with the family as a form of charity.

“What I did for them was more like charity,” she said. “When someone who isn’t related to you steps in for years to ensure everything is good, that’s charity. But they didn’t understand my intentions from the start—they only thought about what they could get from me. Now, I believe it’s better to help those who truly have nothing to offer. That’s where the real blessing lies.”

She shared that her involvement in charity work has been long-standing. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, even when I was with Daddy (Mr Ibu). Since 2020, I’ve been engaged in personal charity work. Growing up, I watched my mother help others, and that’s where my love for humanity began.”

Jasmine further added that after Mr Ibu’s death, she intensified her philanthropic efforts, which brought her immense happiness. “I realised that helping others is the only thing that makes me happy. I’ve found peace and feel fulfilled. I feel like I’m living my purpose right now.”

She also noted that her dedication to charitable projects has limited her time to appear in movies as she used to.
