A young man allegedly murdered his mother as part of a “black magic” ritual. Sandra Maria dos Santos Carvalho, 58, was discovered with multiple stab wounds and her hand severed at her residence in Salvador, Brazil. Her son, Jose Natan Carvalho, was apprehended soon after the disturbing incident on April 20. During his court appearance, he confessed to fatally injuring his mother. Reports suggest the 21-year-old aimed to retain her fingers to access funds in her bank account.
According to Judge Leandro Florencio Rocha de Araujo, the defendant admitted to the crime, alleging it was in retaliation for a prior black magic ritual his mother supposedly conducted against him. Sandra Maria’s body was found concealed in a neighborhood named Boca da Mata de Valeria.
The discovery was prompted by Jose Natan’s cousin, who noticed a foul odor upon visiting the family’s residence where both the victim and the suspect resided. Authorities indicated that the body had begun to decompose, indicating she had been deceased for several days. The case is under investigation by the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection in Salvador.
