Bayern Munich extend Vincent Kompany’s contract until 2029

by Admin

Vincent Kompany has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich that will keep him as head coach until the summer of 2029, extending his original deal by two years.

The Belgian manager, who joined the club in the summer of 2024, led Bayern to Bundesliga triumph in his debut season, reclaiming the title from Bayer Leverkusen. He added another trophy this August, lifting the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.

“It feels like I’ve been here much longer and that I know the club inside out,” said Kompany, the former Manchester City captain. “It’s been an incredible experience so far. We’ve started a wonderful journey — let’s keep working hard and celebrate many more successes!”

Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, also praised Kompany’s impact. “I’m delighted about this extension,” he said. “When we appointed Vinny, we had a clear vision for our future together, and he’s shown from day one that he’s moving Bayern forward both on and off the pitch. He’s a unifying figure who connects the players, the fans, and everyone at the club. We want to build something lasting with him.”

The 39-year-old coach has enjoyed a stellar start to the season, winning all 11 matches across competitions and keeping Bayern at the top of both the Bundesliga and Champions League tables.

In total, Kompany has overseen 67 competitive games, recording 49 wins, nine draws, and nine defeats. His Bundesliga record stands at 32 wins, seven draws, and just two losses — averaging 2.51 points per game, a figure bettered only by Pep Guardiola in league history (2.52).
