Famous Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared that his celebrity status brings him special treatment worldwide.
The Afrobeats star revealed that in almost every country he visits, he is invited to dine with presidents—though he noted exceptions in the United Kingdom and the United States.
In an interview with Kiss Fresh London, Davido mentioned that his fanbase even includes influential figures like the World Bank president, along with leaders of powerful nations.
“Every country we go to, the President invites us for dinner, except London and the United States,” he said. “It’s amazing to see. Leaving Nigeria and being welcomed like a president in other countries highlights Nigeria’s impact on the world in music and culture.”
Davido added that he feels most respected in Africa, which is why he cherishes his African tours more than those in Europe and America, even though Western tours bring in more earnings.
He also mentioned how his Jamaican collaborator YG Marley was amazed by the fan support during his recent visit to Nigeria for the music video shoot of their hit ‘Awuke.’
