Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has recently addressed the alleged rivalry between her colleagues, Asake and Seyi Vibez, stating that she is unaware of any animosity between them.
Though there haven’t been any public disputes between Asake and Seyi Vibez, tensions have been observed among their respective fan bases, particularly on social media platforms.
During an interview with The Beat FM Lagos, Ayra Starr was questioned about her decision to collaborate with both artists on her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ in light of the rumored rivalry. However, she dismissed any knowledge of such rivalry.
According to Ayra Starr, her choice to feature Asake and Seyi Vibez was solely based on her admiration for their musical talents.
She explained, “I didn’t choose Asake and Seyi Vibez for my album because of any rivalry between them. I wasn’t aware of any rivalry between Asake and Seyi Vibez. I simply admire both artists.
“I prioritize sonic compatibility; it’s all about what sounds good to me. While my team may consider the business aspect, I focus on the sonic aspect. I’ve been a fan of Seyi Vibez’s ‘Different Pattern’ for a long time, so I decided to collaborate with him. When I sent him the track, he promptly delivered his verse. Asake, too, sent his verse within three days.”
