Former First Lady Melania Trump recounts her first encounter with now-husband Donald Trump in her memoir *Melania*, released on October 8. She recalls meeting Donald at a 1998 Fashion Week party while he was on a date with another woman.
“I saw my friend wave at someone behind me. When I turned around, I noticed a man and an attractive blonde woman approaching us,” she wrote.
Donald introduced himself, and although Melania recognized his name, she didn’t know much about him at the time. Their brief but impactful conversation quickly captivated her, with Donald focusing intently on her despite being with another woman.
When his date briefly stepped away, Donald asked for Melania’s number. Instead, she asked for his. He discreetly gave her his number via a business card, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Melania shares how they went on to date on and off before marrying in 2005 and welcoming their son, Barron, in 2006. Their early relationship was filled with attending theater, sports, and other events together, building a bond that eventually led to their marriage.
