Former Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly prepared to reduce their €75m valuation of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to facilitate a move to Manchester United, while also preventing a potential switch to Italian rivals Juventus, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is widely expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season, with several top European clubs vying for his signature.
The 26-year-old came close to departing last summer, with a potential move to Saudi Arabia falling through. He also turned down a transfer to Chelsea due to personal terms.
According to Turkish sources Taktik Mania and journalist Arda Ozkurt, Manchester United are intensifying efforts to secure Osimhen’s services and have already submitted an official offer to Galatasaray. The exact figures remain undisclosed, but reports suggest the Red Devils are making a serious push to land the prolific forward.
Arsenal have also reportedly made a bid, while other major clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring the situation. Galatasaray are eager to keep Osimhen but are unlikely to persuade him to stay beyond the season.
Napoli, however, are keen to avoid selling Osimhen to any of their Italian rivals. According to The Peoples Person, the Partenopeans are more inclined to support a move abroad, particularly to Manchester United.
TEAMtalk reported on Friday that United manager Ruben Amorim has identified Osimhen as his primary striker target, ahead of alternatives like Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap.
Despite reports that Osimhen has already turned down Juventus, the Turin club are still aggressively pursuing him. However, United could gain the upper hand with Napoli’s cooperation.
Napoli maintain a strong relationship with Manchester United, having previously dealt with the club during Scott McTominay’s summer move.
It’s also worth noting that Juventus would need to negotiate a separate transfer fee, as Osimhen’s release clause only applies to clubs outside Italy.
As speculation swirls, Osimhen has remained silent about his next move. Turkish journalist Arda Ozkurt recently stated that the striker is currently focused on helping Galatasaray win the Super Lig and Turkish Cup, and has yet to make any official decisions regarding his future.
