Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has expressed his support for Nigerian nurses relocating abroad for better opportunities.
Obi made this statement over the weekend during a N50 million donation to Peter University in Achina/Onneh and a N10 million donation to the School of Nursing Sciences, Adazi-Nnukwu.
While addressing students at the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu, Obi said:
“I’ve always told the Nursing Council not to stop you from traveling abroad after graduation. If things aren’t working here, go where they will.
We won’t advise anyone to stay in a place where it’s tough for them. If you want to seek better opportunities abroad, please go. When we build a greater Nigeria, I’m sure you’ll return.
My PA, Michael-Jude, who was with me the last time I visited, has now moved abroad. He married a nurse, and the UK government granted both of them the right to study. He’s now in the UK. As for me, I’m currently looking for a new PA.”
