Racial discrimination: Alko apologizes to a client from immigrant background

by Admin

Yesterday, a Cameroonian, De Betong who is based in Tampere posted a video on his Facebook page where a sales personnel at Alko Linnainmaa Tampere Prisma refused to sell alcohol to him because she suspected him of being intoxicated or must have taken a hard drug.

She should have called the police to come and arrest a drug addict instead of asking me to leave the shop, De Betong who was racially attacked said.

According to him, the sales personnel said she could tell who is drunk from her experience.

Diaspora Glitz Magazine posted the video on its Instagram page and many who condemned the act mentioned Alko Prisma in their comments.

This afternoon, Alko while responding to the video said there is no place for racism or any other form of discrimination in Alko. They apologized and opined that what happened is solely based on their mandate to conduct responsible alcohol sales. It is our legal obligation to ensure that we don’t sell alcohol beverages to intoxicated person or minors and the beverages are not passed on.
